Baby Don't worry.
These people are nuts.
I have been hearing this same story for almost 60 years. The only difference is the date that the end is supposed to happen on.
I have probably been through 10 or 12 end of the worlds now and the only thing that ever happened was the people who were predicting it ended up looking like fools.
This idea of the second coming is a misunderstanding of scripture.
Jesus has no intention of returning as a living human. He already did that.
This time Jesus is returning in the hearts of those who have accepted his message and try to live their lives to emulate his teachings. Few actually do this. It requires a radically different interpretation of love from the one understood by most so-called believers. Most people see love as something that you keep in reserve only for those you have judged worthy of it.
This is not love at all. This is only judgment. Judgment is the exact opposite of what Jesus was teaching. Remember judge not lest ye be judged. Jesus asks us to love our neighbor. Notice that there is no accept for in this statement. Every one is intended to be included in this love Jesus ask us to have for our fellow man. This type of universal application of love requires no judgment on our part because Jesus’' intent was that no one be left out of it.
This is a difficult pill to swallow for any religion that thinks of it's self as being the one true and only correct way to God. This idea of exclusivity is the exact opposite of the message of inclusively that Jesus gave us.
Attaining the goals that Jesus set for us may be difficult within the constraints most religions impose. This is why many who seriously try to emulate the true teachings of Jesus in their lives do not ascribe to any particular religious following. They follow the truth in their hearts where Jesus has taken up residence.
Love and blessings.

The world's going to end again?
What is the evidence for this teacher's claim?
Keep in mind there have been several dates for the end of the world. Jesus himself claimed the world would end before the generation standing before him would pass away. There was a lot of hoopla around the year 1000AD, because people thought the world would end then. During the 19th cent., here in the US, there were a lot of small religious groups that constantly proclaimed the end was near, giving a precise date. More recently, there was May 5th, 2000, which was when several planets came into alignment with our own and the gravity was supposed to tear us apart.
However, we're still here.
The "prophecies" in the Bible are often twisted to match contemporary times. Many are vague ("there will be wars and rumors of wars" - when has this not been true?). The Book of Revelation has been used to show the end is nigh since it was written, as has the Book of Daniel. If these prophecies were truly so accurate, how could they be used at any other time except the time they predict?
Oh, and here's the deal about the year 2012. The Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21st of that year. But who knows what that means? The Mayans believed in a cyclical universe. Did they mean everything would end on that day or everything would be "rebooted," such as it were? In any case, does it really have anything to do with Jesus? They had certainly never heard of him or God.
See you on Jan. 1, 2013.

There are some who make spectacular predictions of the world’s end to grab attention and a following, but others are sincerely convinced that their proclamations are true. They are voicing expectations based on their own interpretation of some scripture text or physical event.
Undeterred by previous failures, some seem to have been spurred on by the approach of the year 2000 and have made further predictions of the end of the world. The Wall Street Journal of December 5, 1989, published an article entitled “Millennium Fever: Prophets Proliferate, the End Is Near.” With the year 2000 approaching, various evangelicals are predicting that Jesus is coming and that the 1990’s will be “a time of troubles that has not been seen before.” At the time of this writing, the latest occurrence was in the Republic of Korea, where the Mission for the Coming Days predicted that on October 28, 1992, at midnight, Christ would come and take believers to heaven. Several other doomsday groups made similar predictions.
The flood of false alarms is unfortunate. They are like the wolf-wolf cries of the shepherd boy—people soon dismiss them, and when the true warning comes, it too is ignored.
But why has there been such a tendency through the centuries and down to our day for false alarms to be sounded, as Jesus said they would be? (Matthew 24:23-26) Jesus, after telling his followers about different events that would mark his return, said to them, as we read at Matthew 24:36-42: “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. . . . Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”

Don't worry over it.
The Jesus is coming and the world is comming to an end pitch has to be updated every few years after he doesn't show up and the world keeps going.
Be assured there are many whio are disappointed iot does not happen. In recent years many of the faithful have died listening to fruit loop preachers sending out their hate getting ready for the end.
Preachers have been scaring folks into their churches for centuries or at l;east every sence the Emporer of Rome invented Christianity.
Just write that down on your list of things to forget it'll pass as always.

There has always been theorys about the end of the world they come and go. She may have cued to something in the Bible that convinces her that the rapture will arrive in 2012. Don't plan you life around this as it is merely a wild guess.

Oh wow, listen if God wanted us to know the exact date, it would of been prophesised in the Bible, other things were and have come true, I don't believe we are going to know the exact time, I caution you to beware of people who teach you false teachings, they may not try to, but it happens, that was also warned against, I recommend that you talk to your mom about this and tell her you want to know Jesus Christ and the truth, but not sent somewhere where they will lead you down the wrong path, you must sort, fact (The Holy Bible) from fiction(Someones point of view, or personal opinion of how they see it), we don't know, thats why we must not waste time in chasing illusions, and ask The Lord to come into our life and give us the true answers so we don't walk around with the veil covering our eyes.

I've never heard 2012... but the Bible says we will not know the day or hour. Also, does it matter? Would you live your life differently if you thought you'd see Jesus tomorrow, or in 6 years? I personally would continue to live my life as best I can with God's help, and continue raising my children to know him. And to tell others that I can about what he has done for them. What else can I do?

It is very erroneous to pin a date and time when Jesus will be coming back, His very own words when His dicsiples asked him, He said, that even He does not know the day or the hour... we can know the season, and this makes a remarkable study, on when Jesus was born, what festival was taking place at that time, and what feast will coinside with His return...Very interesting, but Jesus tells us to make ourselves ready to go at any time, we cannot pack bags for this, we need to be spiritually ready... 2012? Hmmmm, dunno, one treds on very thin ice in thier faith and walk with God, when they start concentrating on timelines, that isn't important... Jesus doesn't know, so we shouldn't know before Him...
If you aren't religious, then why are you taking confirmation???? Just a question, no harm intended.

First off lets go by A Thus Saith The Lord instead of what you heard okay, starting in Matthew 24 it says this:
24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.Jesus comes in everyones lifetime at the end of it as far as most but in everones life time, you said your not religous, hay you live in a place that everone dies in look for the exit, its found in Jesus Christ, free bible studys www.itiswritten.com God bless you, EMAIL me [not messanger] me also wgr88@yahoo.com
