I have two tattooes already so I know the feeling and they are pretty large, but I've never gotten my foot tattooed before. How much more does it hurt on my foot compared to lets say, my back? Is it as horribly painful as I'm told? I'm still getting my foot tattoed, but I'd like to at least have an idea of what to expect.

I have a tattoo of a purple flower with some black tribal on the top of my left foot and a purple rose with a vine that goes around my right ankle and down onto the top of my foot. I have four other tattoos and I'd say that the foot and ankle hurt the most. It is such a bony area without any fat or muscle. It was worth the pain though, I love the way they look and get a lot of compliments on them. I have heard people say that foot tatts fade easily, but mine look great and I've had them for a few years. Good luck!!

The skin on the top of your foot is very thin and close to the bone, nerves, and tendons, which in turn makes this particular area very painful to tattoo. I have a leg tattoo that goes done onto the side of my foot and from my ankle down I was nauseous with pain, but after it was very worth it..as I'm sure you know. But once again no pain, no gain.

I asked my tattooist about a foot tattoo and he didn't recommend it because the skin is very thin, they wear away really easily (and you can't wear shoes for 2 weeks. He said he's never seen one older than a year that looks any good. But thats up to you. In regards to pain, I've been told its quite painful because your foot is so bony, and there's no flesh there, also your toes twitch when they go over nerves. But since you have 2 tats already, you'll probably handle it well enough.

Foot tattoos hurt as there isnt much fleshy around the feet. Unless you have meaty feet, otherwise, tattoos near the bony areas would hurt like ankle and toes.

Yes. The main thing that helps in keeping a tattoo somewhat pain free is fat. The less fat in the area you are getting the tattoo the more it will hurt.
Feet, hands, shoulder blades, knees, etc....

if you already have tattoos then youll pretty much know what to expect. the foot is just a little uncomfortable and it twitches a lot..but its all worth it in the end. youll be fine go for it.

you have to be careful when getting a tat on your foot...they fade out faster than anywhere on your body..well next to your hands. and yeah its gonna hurt like hell! the chick that was talking about inside of ankle, yeah i got one there too! my god did it hurt...good luck with that. its all worth it in the end when you have something meaningful that will be with you forever! i love tats!
