The Code predates the OT bible by centuries, and concerns the god Ea, not the Judeo-Christian god.

Looks like marriage has been around a LOT longer than Judaism or Christianity.

Looks like Ea gets credit for creating marriage!
ALL HAIL EA!!!!

dog sneeze, the bible wasn't written at that "time"

Those stories were writted LONG LONG after they supposedly happened.

Check your facts.

I would say you are 100% right. Hail Ea!

Then again, religions always 'borrow' from older sources but won't admit it and they likely won't now even when shown the evidence.

Speaking as a Lutheran Christian who is engaged in continuing education for lay ministry...I don't know of any thinking, informed Christian who would argue that the Bible "created marriage." The human institution of forming committed life partnerships based on mutual support, respect, service and in most cases care of children and others is, from a Christian perspective, a good gift of God, hardwired into our species' behavior, for the building up of human community...but, again, the Bible didn't "invent" marriage. Are you perhaps setting up a straw person just to knock it down?

Not really:

The Code of Hammurabi was made around 1800 BC. This was roughly the time period of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

There is nothing wrong with my facts, thank you. I am going to take a wild guess and assume you are not a historian, anthropologist, or sociologist.

You are falsely equating written documents with the formation of an institution itself. It is fine to say one was written before the other. But it is a false inference to claim that the written document marks the origination of a cultural practice. This is especially true with a practice as basic to human nature as marriage --and in ancient cultures that rely predominately on oral transmission.

God predates all.
God created marriage and had designs well before Ea become a false god.

Who said the Bible created marriage?

Considering the fact that CREATION predates everything, I don't think so.

Adam and Eve were married. That was when God made marriage, and that was at the very beginning, before Hammurabi.
