Everyday when i come home from school, i start to feel really sleepy and accidentally fall asleep in my contacts. This has happened to me about maybe 8 or more times. Is this an okay thing to do? Will this also ruin my contacts if it happens more often?

I've worn contact lenses for over 25 years (gosh, time flies). Anyway, it depends on what kind of lenses you have. I wear soft, disposable lenses....I do not sleep in my lenses.

Unless your lenses are extended wear, you should NOT sleep in your contacts. While you sleep the contact deprives your eye of oxygen and makes an ulcer on the cornea. Now, dozing off after school for a bit won't hurt you, unless you're taking REALLY LONG naps.

Hope this helps.

There are different types of contacts on the market which would affect the the response the kind you leave in for a long period of time and the kind you remove every day. Judging from your question though, I would assume you are using the ones you remove daily. For the most part napping even once daily will not hurt you or your contacts. However there are risks to wearing them long term. In general you could probably wear your conacts over night and through the next day without much problem but it does deprive your eye of oxygen and sometimes bacteria builds up between the lens and the eye. This may cause a serious eye infection. Your eyes may dry out a little but a few rewetting drops when you wake up should take care of that fairly easily. With the newer disposable lenses the risk is minimal because they tend to break before they have a chance to build up much material with the older kind you had one pair and mabey one back up. You would have to put in special cleaning tablets to help clean them and keep them bacteria free. Other than that I do not know of and serious side effects to sleeping in your contacts. It would be best if you talk to optrician next time you go in and discuss your situation with him/her. They will be able to tell you benefits and risks and possibly they might recommend a different lens for you.

Sometimes I take naps in my contacts- not sure if you're supposed to, but if it's only for an 1-2 hours or so, it doesn't hurt my contacts or eyes (or so I think) They just feel a little weird after, but then they're fine. Just don't sleep the whole night in them!!

Depends on your type of contacts. Call your eye doctor that prescribed them, tell them about your issue and ask if they have some that are ok to sleep in, mine aren't so I take them out as soon as I get home from work. I also have a tendency to doze when I get home, as I get up at 4 a.m.

itll probably wear out your contacts faster and its really not good for your eyes. it definatly isnt going to cause blindness or anything serious, but your eyes can tend to get irritated if theyre covered up by contact for too long, they cant get any oxygen.

i wouldnt worry about it too much, just try not to make it a habit. also, try some of the contacts made to be worn for a month straight

It depends on what kind you have. You can probably look them up on the net or just call you eye Dr.

My first soft contacts really messed up my eyes if I slept in them. The ones I use now stay in for a month straight, no problem.

If they are soft contacts it may cause them to dry out and become less comfortable. If your eyes are not having a negative response it is prbably not the end of the world, but you should put in some eye drops to be surethat your eyes are well lubricated.

You must be really, really small to actually fall asleep IN your contacts. How to you get off of the bathroom sink ledge by yourself?

A nap in ur contacts should not cause any serious problems. When u go to bed, be sure to take them out and clean them well.

you are not supposed to sleep with contacts on for safety reason! you might scratch your eyes while you were sleeping and hurt yourself!
but in case you dreamt, and you don't have contacts, you cant see it! (just to be funny!)
