I had bronchitis and now the worst of it is over, its like a really bad cold with a chest cough. Anyway now i seem to have a phlegm ball in my throat that i cant swallow. i cant get a full swallow because its blocking the way. Ive tried swallowing it which doesnt work, ive tried spitting it out but i cant hork and spit really good because I gag. I know this sounds gross but its grosser hearing me try and deal with it and i want it gone asap, are there any tricks?

No stupid answers please

I don't really know, but I hope you can get rid of it. I would ask my doctor if you haven't already.

Try gargling with salt water, several times. The salt wil help to thin out the mucus and loosen it. Also try drinking a cup of very hot herbal tea, as hot as you can stand it (don't burn yourself!), and as quickly as possible. If this doesn't help, then maybe you'll just have to gag. That might help to move it up the throat where you can get at it better... You may vomit, but the force of it will push it right out!

Humidity will help thin out the secretions and make them easier to cough up. A steamy shower; take a towel, hold your head over a steamy sink and put the towel like a tent to hold the humidity in and breathe deep. Practice deep breaths before trying to cough it up. Drink plenty of liquids, also helps thin them out. Remember, the faster you cough them up, the sooner you'll be healthy.

phlegm : drink LOTS and lots of fluids..helps thin it down which will most likely produce MORE coughing but coughing is what helps get it OUT of your body.

Hot lemonade/juice will help.
lemon and honey will help too.
vinegar and honey will help too. (UH, this is gross but it works.)
