Is it actually the shoulder blade that hurts, or the area around it? If it's the area around it, do you do any repetitive motions for a large portion of the day? If you do, you may have a repetitive motion injury that's damaged some of the soft tissue in that region. It's the same principle as carpal tunnel, only in a different region.Otherwise, it could be a back injury, or even something as simple as stress. If it persists, go see your doctor.

Could be caused from sitting in a bad position in front of a computer all day. Acupuncture is very effective for muscular pain. I've used it to treat chronic back pain for years.
