You should have gotten a pedigree from the breeder when you got the puppy.

i have had many pure bred dogs. ask yourself these questions. Are you going to breed the dog and sell the puppies? Are you going to sell the dog unspayed or neutered so that another can breed the dog and sell the puppies? are you going to enter this dog in a dog show? if the answers to all of these questions is no...you don't need to waste your time or money registering the dog at all..let alone need the pedigree.

I just got the registration papers for all my dogs. Even if i wanted to breed them!! It depends on you. But you really you don't need all that!! It just cost more money and for what? Some breeders may do that just to show their dogs pedigree/ background and all! So they can try to make more money on selling there puppy's!! If you just want your dog as a pet then you don't need all that extra paper!! Beside you can still breed and sell your dogs pups with only a registration papers! right !! So it up to you!

I get the pedigree when I do mine as I wnat to know who the parents are and they go back about 5 generations so you can see which dogs were finished champions and what other titles they held it is sort of cool to get all the background info on your dogs parents.

The last (and only) purebred that I had, I did get the pedigree. I wanted to see the lineage for myself and it was interesting to see what the other dogs names were.

I raise pugs. Its always best to get the full pedigree because its nice to see where they decend from;if you ever wanted to breed it would be neccessary to help prevent cross or inbreeding. Plus,if you get the pedigree you can see also if your puppy might have had some high quality "show" bloodlines!!

***WHY*** didn't your breeder provide a pedigree when -or BEFORE-you got the animal???

well its always nice to know where yer coming from if thats important to you. and if you are breeding him you will need those so you don't breed him to his cousin or something.
