It's not true. You are only suppose to get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks. All you need to do is keep the ends trimmed and take care of your hair and it should grow.

On average the hair of a healthy person grows half an inch a month. If you get a trim every two weeks your hair will not seem like it's growing at all because you will be cutting off all the growth. It may even get shorter. If you have split ends you should cut them off. Hair will be healthier if you do that. If you don't ever trim split ends off they will keep splitting further and further up until all of your hair feels bad. I would say a haircut every 6 weeks would be good enough. If you want your hair to grow as fast and as healthy as possible keep your body healthy, take vitamins, drink lots of water. Hair is fed through the blood. The better your blood circulation is the better your hair will be. Hair is mostly made of Keratin. Vitamins that increase micro circulation of the blood would be good too. I am a licensed cosmetologist.

if you trimed it that often it would be shorter. your hair only grows a average of 1/2 inch a month. most people trim 6-8 weeks that is about every 2 months. I have long hair and if you want it to grow then I advise you only cut it every 6 months unless you really damage your hair. If you do not see split ends then it does not need to be cut. To stimulate growth really massage your scalp when you wash.

How can it grow faster? It grows from the roots - the rest of the hair is dead. If you keep trimming your hair, your hair will get shorter. However it is good to get an occasional trim (every couple of months) just to get rid of split ends.

no it doesnt.. remember your hair is dead! The reason they say it gorws faster is because it is healthier when you trim regular and your hair doesnt break off from split ends. Condition to make hair stronger and eat well. Vitamin A is good for hair, skin and nails. Take a vitamin everyday.

It is true, you need to get rid of the split ends...trim at least every 8 weeks a slight amount...1 inch enough

.Cutting hair will NOT make it grow faster. It may look better but it would grow faster. Short hair seems to grow faster because of the relative length of the hair being compared

i have looked into this a time or two myself. from what i have come across most of my efforts have pointed to a negative response. since your hair is dead, cutting it only keeps your split ends from getting worse which in turn keeps your hair healthy but doesn’t promote hair growth. if you’re looking to help your hair grow i have a few ideas that may help.

a few other ppl have asked this question...this is what i suggested for them to do...

Zinc, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Biotin, & Amino Acids along with a few other vitamins are very important in healthy hair growth.

Prenatal vitamins are high in a few of these vitamins which does make it very good for faster hair growth. Along with nail growth as well. All the other vitamins in them are very good for you too. A few of my friends take this for that purpose. It’s pretty cheap and it’s very good for you. All of them say it works.~This of course is if your a female...im not to sure how this would work out on males?? ;)

Another thing that you may want to know...there are some really good products specially made for hair growth. A really good one is called "Shen Min". It has just about every vitamin known for healthy hair. Not only will it help your hair grow faster but it helps restore your hair back to its original form (color, thickness).

Another thing you could try is "main and tail" shampoo & conditioner. it is very good as well. i use this a few times a week to help my hair grow faster.

Prenatal Pills are very good for you no matter how you look at it & they will help your hair grow. An actual hair growth formula (like shen min) may be more of what you’re looking for.

when you say your hair won’t hold a press, im assuming you mean it won’t stay straight when you iron it?? if that’s what you mean i have a suggestion for that as well..

i always used a straightener which was such a huge hassle. when i was finished my hair would poof up and get all frizzy the second i was finished. BUT i came across a really good one called the "chi". it works like magic. it turned my hour-long straitening session into a 15 min. session! my hair was poker straight for the first time in my life. it was really shiny with no frizz as well! it’s a little pricey but for the time it saves and the super straight results it’s worth it in my mind!

The Chi is a ceramic straightening iron. I got mine at Trade Secrets. I saw a "generic" one at Sally's Beauty Supply for half the price. I'm not sure if it works as good, most of Sally's "generic" brand works as well as the name brand that they're imitating...but it’s worth a try (you could always take it back if it doesn't work). I know for sure that the Chi works like a charm though.

there’s a few ideas...for you. i hope i was able to help you some!

Hair care is a catchall term for parts of hygiene and cosmetology involving the hair. It is a major world industry.

Hair care may include haircuts which strengthen hair by removing split ends, add style to potentially lifeless hair and rejeuvenate hair by allowing vitamins and natural oils to better flourish on a healthier head of hair. For the most part, one should recieve a hair cut at least every six months in order to maintain healthy hair and style. Haircuts may also include services mentioned under hair dressing.

Hair care also includes hair dressing, where the hair is blown dry, combed and or styled. Hair dressing may include perms, weaves, extensions, permanent relaxers, permanent waves, curling and any other form of styling or texturing. Styling tools may include flat irons, curling irons, flat brushes, round brushes, hair rollers, and diffusers. Hair dressing might also include the use of product to add texture, shine, curl, volume or hold to a particular style.

Hair care also includes hair washing, a necessary practice to cleanse one's hair and scalp. Hair that is not cleansed regularly may result in a prime breeding ground for bacteria which often results in scalp disorders. Often hair is washed as part of a shower or bathing with specialized soaps called shampoo. Conditioner may be used after rinsing to replace any lost nutrients in the hair shaft as well as to protect the hair shaft from breakage.

Scalp hair grows 33 mm per week on average and shampoos or vitamins have not been shown to noticeably change this rate. The speed of hair growth varies based upon genetics, gender, age, and may be reduced by nutrient deficiency. [citation needed]

hair will grow the same speed regardess of trimming.

and it won't get any longer either.

your hair will grow a certain length and then break off. Once it reaches a maximum length it falls or breaks off

that's why for examply you don't have really long arm hair
