The only possible reference to female homosexuality is in Romans, 1:26 -27 specifically. But I am sure this is not what Paul is alluding to - I'm sure it is other practices he would consider "abnormal."

The Bible's ideology with sexuality is originally taken from a male standpoint. As you all know, a male's sexual organ can only experience pleasure when it supplies the "DNA" as well. Therefore, from this view, it only makes sense that sex is meant to be used only for romance AND procreation, since they are supplied together naturally. This is the basic view behind why strictly pleasureful sex/"perversion" (i.e. the main reason why homosexuality is condemned) is deemed immoral; because they are considered 'unnatural'. This in fact is the entire basis behind St. Thomas Aquinas' "Natural Law" argument (and if you read the Bible, you should know who he is). However, the argument does fail to consider the fact that in females there are TWO primary sexual organs; one for pleasure, and one for procreation. From this point of view, you can easily see how the original argument falls short...

It's understandable why lesbianism isn't even considered in the Bible since the main argument behind sexuality is considered from a male point of view. Though, logically speaking, if you find male homosexuality immoral, it would logically follow that female homosexuality would be considered immoral as well. The same logic follows also if you do not find male homosexuality immoral.

I'm answering the question by looking at the outside effects of the Bible rather than the inside scripture...so this answer may or may not be what you are looking for.

Romans 1:26-27 IS reffering to lesbianism, since it's in the same text as male homosexuality. He didn't leave lesbians out when he was talking about male homosexuality, in the same topic and paragraph.

1 Corinthians 6:9
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders...it says male prostitutes and homosexual...it does not condemn only males in that sentence...homosexual means a person having same sex relations..it does not mean only males. but hey why focus on just one sex sin...why not look at it all because it is all sin..heterosexual outside marriage, bestiality, homosexual it is all sin..no one better than the other and I bet 95% of the people in the world has sinned sexually in some form or other. Just a side note of encouragement to those who do sin sexually..we can be forgiven and cleansed....1 Corinthians 6:11 "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." I know that I was a big violator of his commands thank God he loves us enough to send his VERY BEST!!!

Notice that the Bible doesn't specifically refer to men and women separately. Instead, "man" is used to refer to both men and women. So, when the Bible condemns homosexuality for man, it means women and men.

Female homosexuality is condemned briefly in Romans 1. Paul says that it is an abomination for a man to lust after another man as he would a woman and for a woman to lust after a woman as she would a man.

I dont think that it is okay I just think god never thought of it at the time. Apparently there wasnt a whole town of females getting their groove on back then, but in a part of the bible I do beleive they tell you why he condemns it,because there was a whole town of males and they where getting it on but I'm sure god doesnt like it.

Reg D,
YOUR WAIT IS OVER!!!!
Paul sets up what he will be saying about the verses that you referenced:
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

And begins to refer to some that did things another way:
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

That is: those that knew God, but did not adhere to His ways. God had shown them His ways, but then:
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

They went their own way. And then suffered a grave loss:
Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

So it was something else that led them to the condition that they are found in. Not homosexuality in itself, but the way they went after strange Gods, making nature the creator of all things, worshipping the creatures, instead of the Creator.

So those that are GAy can be saved according to the Bible, but not those who serve their own man made Gods, the idolatry that is against the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Truth.

So there you have it. Gays are not condemned in these verses. Neither Lesbians, but those that follow after creatures. Those that think that nature is God. They are the ones because; they worship some thing other than God.

Does that make sense to you?

Church authorities for centuries claimed that Romans 1 referred to women who didn't want to have children.

Only in the past decade or two have people decided to "reinterpret" this to include lesbianism.

The Bible does mention where women gave up normal attractions to men. Both are condemned.
