ok i grew up there was there untill i tuned 30 ok this is the deal ,,,,,,all left hand turns are made from the right lane on divided roads & highways so you get in the right hand lane as you approach the light and go around a jughandle(half loop) that takes you left towards the light go straight accross hence making a left from the road you just left

txtxtx is right, If your directions are to make a 'jersey left', look for a sign that says 'All Turns From Right Lane'. Sometimes the jug-handle is before the intersection, sometimes after.
