they work good, but check your state laws some state it is illegal. due to the goldfish may get off the hook and survive and if several get away you could have an over population of all fish.
first you have the goldfish mating and making alot of babies, then you have an abundance of baitfish which allows the gamefish to eat well so they dont eat smaller gamefish in turn a huge mess. sure it will take awhile but that is the way the gov.t sees it.

Im assuming the use of goldfish is legal in your area.
We have caught large cats and bass with gold fish.
I discovered them many years ago when there was no regular bait available. we fished them on the bottom like cut bait. Only they were alive.
Hook them below a slip weight about 12 inches.
We hammered the fish that day.
Successful fsihing means keeping your eyes open and your mind thinking about what will work on your water.

Leave the goldfish alone. If you must resort to fishing with bait, which is the lowest form of fishing, then purchase minnows, night crawlers, waterdogs at a bait shop, or liver, shrimp, vienna sausage or corn from the grocer.
If you want to learn to catch bigger, better fish, then learn to use lures. Nearly all freshwater records were caught on artificial bait. It lasts longer and isn't nearly so messy either.

Never tried that before. I bet a bass would hit it, and a croc would probably like to hit it as well. Be careful though of crocs, birds, frogs and other critters that also might like to hit a shiney goldfish. And fishing regulations.

bass will eat and hit anything small that is alive. They are aggresive, if you drop any kind of fish from the pet and put a hook on it and drop it in there face they will eat it. They don't really have a limited diet
