Because when you have the smoke in your mouth repeatedly or for a long time your tounge nerves just don't like it. It feels all tingly and then it starts hurting.

when i smoke too much or go awhile without it my throat kills and my lungs and back feel tight and achey...maybe you are smoking too much and avoiding water...or just smoking some bad @$$ bunk weed. if you have white bumps etc on your tounge get it checked out and eat popsicles...its probably not from weed in that case.

pot smoke burns at a hotter temp than cigarette smoke. Also it may depend what you smoke it out of. I have a friend with a metal allergy, if he puffs out of a metal pipe he has a reaction on his lips. Also you may have a vitamin deficiency. So maybe try amping up on your multi-vitamins and switching to glass.
