Just like was said, you fish for them just like you would walleye. Jig with a piece of crawler in the fall or a minnow in the spring. You can drift with a bottom bouncer, Lindy or spinner rig. They're shallow in the spring, deeper in the hot summer months and then come shallow again in the fall. They move with the forage fish just like the walleye do. Saugeye is a cross-mix of the sauger and walleye so their feeding habits will mimic those two fish. They usually don't go as deep as the bigger walleye do in the summer though. They prefer to go after the shallow minnow as opposed to the smelt that the walleye like to eat.

Do we have saugeye? Regardless I wouldn't eat anything out of the Scioto or Olentangy. I live down by Chillicothe and they say not to eat the fish out of the Scioto, although several people do.
