Chris, can this Balancer, (if damaged), also damage the engine if not replace some time? I have mustang gt 5.0 and I feel a little vibration when a RPM gets over 4,000.

There are a number of other things that could be wrong besides the "damper", -- and they could cause bad problems too! You could have loose bolts in the flywheel, or torque converter connecting plate (called a "flex plate"). Even a bad "Hydraulic clutch fan" . So I'd suggest ou take it to a "good mechanic" and see what he thinks. He may want to get to it as quickly as possible if it is a serious problem!!

A Balancer is also called a "Harmonic Damper" and is fitted to absorb crankshaft vibration (torsional or twisting vibration) so yes damage can and will occur with continued use. By that I mean you'll snap the crankshaft, but in the case of a 302 windsor the nose of the crank shaft falls off

What year is the car? If it's a 5.0, OF COURSE you feel some vibrations above 4000 RPM!!! You might also experience butterflies in your stomach, extreme adrenaline rush, and for men, slight hard on while driving this car. =)
