It is not religions, but society standards that dictate the rankings of a gender or class. But in buddhism, it is taught that women and men are equaly capable of attaining enlightment. Now to the answer of if women are classified as being superior to men, it has to do with the culture. If it was a matriarch society then yes, women are superior to men. They would be considered the wise persons of the tribe and would be the religous backbone of that society. But most doctrines are based on patriarch beliefs. Written and enforced by the male gender. Telling who and what should be. PEACE!
BTW- The male domination of most religions is more of an ego trip than anything else. Males just feel as if they are dominant over women. The religions won't teach that, but the culture will.

I don't believe there are any, since the origin of most religions date back to the time where men were seen as superior. Since most faiths base their beliefs on ancient texts and beliefs, it would seem unlikely that any religion would give women equal status. As for Christianity, they do not give woman equal status since women priests in most denominations is frowned upon, especially the more traditional parishes.

Yes, EQUAL, I believe only one. The Baha'i Faith describes men and women as the two wings of a bird, they must work together. Equality does not mean SAMENESS, as women and men have different qualities and abilities. If a family can only afford to educate one child, it is said that the female should be educated over the male. As adults, the mother will be the first influence on a child, and needs the ability to educate her children.

In the ancient world, just as humans were starting to live in cities and farm in Mesopotamia, woman called the shots. The most important god was the female fertility god. She brought life to the crops and children to families. Each little town worshiped the goddess differently, but women were in charge at the time. What happened is that the herders living on the edge of the new towns had to fight for survival instead of growing crops. The herders had a war god not a fertility god. Guess who won. The goddess was destroyed in favor of the god and the position of woman in society went down hill after wards.
It is important to note that for a short time after Christianity, and Islam were developed, the role of women improved for a generation or two. But after a generation or two men marginalized women again.

Superiority or equality than Men has nothing to do with the religion. They do respect their man as a Husband and believe that Husband is their God.It's a social culture and belief.

It's difficult to answer because the physiological status and Major responsibilities are different So, rewards are different.
For example : a mother in Islam is rewarded much more than the father. since responsibility is more for the mother e.g child bearing etc...

it's my understanding that Wicca reveres female energies as much as male energies. the religion seems to be a study of and a quest for natural balance.
of course each sect or coven is different so one coven may focus more on male energies while another may focus more on female energies. this is what was explained to me by some of my Wiccan friends.
