is scared of my ex and he is VERY SHY. We went home together one night and talked a few times after that and then he said he things we shouldn't be anything more than friends. Then I saw him again at bar and he acted like nothing changed and we went home again. I don't know what to think...if I should call him or just let it be until the next time I see him. I don't know if he is just wanting to be 'sex' buddies or wants more. I think that he does want more but is to scared.

Call him and ask him if he wants a date.
Then you will solve your problem immediately.
If he says yes, when you are on the date, ask him what he wants from relationship.

If he sats no, then move on.

First off, recently divorced? How recent? Ask yourself why you think you need to be with this person. do you HAVE to have someone in your life because it's familiar? Are you afraid to be on your own? When you are comfortable with what goes on in your own head, then you'll know that you're ready for another relationship. Now, you can be friends and sex partners too, as long as that is understood from the beginning. Should your feeling for each other change at any point, be honest about it.

GF-

If you sexed him up twice and he doesn't call you back -

than next time you go to the bar , try talking to someone else.

Unless your just in it for the sex?

Cause , if he wants more he needs to step up to the plate- Scared, WTF

Other wise he doesn't want you that bad.
And maybe him seeing that your serious about getting serious with whip him into shape.

Jealousy can do that to a man!

I suggest you call him and talk about what the both of you want with one another. This way, you can get a feel of what he's expecting from you [like a relationship].
