Trick: are you going to play a prank on me?
Treat: Not if you give me a treat.
It comes from the fact that Halloween is honoring the spirits that are believed to roam the earth, and are tricksters.

Almost more of a threat than a question really. Give me a treat or I will play a trick on you. At home that trick could be pretty nasty. From egging or tping your house to lighting your car on fire. What can I say, small towns can be boring and people get carried away. I never pulled a prank bigger than tping a tree or two though.

They are giving you an option. You can give them a treat (candy bar etc.) or they will play a trick on you which could be anything although hopefully not dangerous or destructive.
