I'm glad you asked because that's a common mistake. The Quran promises 72 "hur," which translates to "white grapes," NOT virgins.
"It has long been a staple of Islam that Muslim martyrs will go to paradise and marry 72 black-eyed virgins. But a growing body of rigorous scholarship on the Quran points to a less sensual paradise — and, more important, may offer a step away from fundamentalism and toward a reawakening of the Islamic world.
…The Quran is beautifully written, but often obscure. One reason is that the Arabic language was born as a written language with the Quran, and there’s growing evidence that many of the words were Syriac or Aramaic.
For example, the Quran says martyrs going to heaven will get “hur,” and the word was taken by early commentators to mean “virgins,” hence those 72 consorts. But in Aramaic, hur meant “white” and was commonly used to mean “white grapes.”

OKay,
1. To those who aren't even Muslims, shut the hell up and stop corrupting the religion.
2. YOU DON"T GET 72 VIRGINS IN HEAVEN! GO do you research! Geez....
If you're going to ask a question at least ask based on facts, not based on gossip!

You're right... most women would probably prefer an experienced lover rather than a virgin. But not 72 of them.
Maybe they get to be treated with respect from a man. Oh, wait. That's too silly! Nevermind!

Its 72 Vulcans, not virgins. The females each get 72 Mr Spock's. I don't care about what the men get.

Since it doesn't matter there what women want I have never seen any thing serious written that answers that question.
i did see something non-serious in a Doonesbury strip in the Sunday papers in which a teen woman suicide bomber was being interviewed by the CNN reporter. He asked that exact question. The answer that he got from the teen aged bomber-in-training was that she was going to collect them for her younger brother so he would have twice as many when he became a suicide bomber.

I am serious. That is what's to be expected of the "theology" created by primitive desert dwellers. In all the Abrahamic traditions women were AT BEST subordinates of men. In the main writings, they were more like commodities.

That was a mistranslation. It's 72 Virginians, not virgins. And yes, both genders receive them.

Virgins in Paradise is a reward promised by Allah سبØاÙ٠٠تعاÙÙ. The number that each man gets, Allah سبØاÙ٠٠تعاÙÙ knows best. (72 is for the martyrs).
Abu Umama narrated: "The Messenger of God said, 'Everyone that God admits into paradise will be married to 72 wives; two of them are houris and seventy of his inheritance of the [female] dwellers of hell. All of them will have libidinous sex organs and he will have an ever-erect penis.' "
Sunan Ibn Majah, Zuhd (Book of Abstinence) 39
It was mentioned by Daraj Ibn Abi Hatim, that Abu al-Haytham 'Adullah Ibn Wahb narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudhri, who heard the Prophet Muhammad PBUH saying, 'The smallest reward for the people of Heaven is an abode where there are eighty thousand servants and seventy-two houri, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine and ruby, as wide as the distance from al-Jabiyyah to San'a.
Al-Tirmidhi, Vol. 4, Ch. 21, No. 2687
Each time we sleep with a Houri we find her virgin. Besides, the penis of the Elected never softens. The erection is eternal; the sensation that you feel each time you make love is utterly delicious and out of this world and were you to experience it in this world you would faint. Each chosen one [i.e. Muslim] will marry seventy [sic] houris, besides the women he married on earth, and all will have appetizing vaginas.
Al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Qur'an, p. 351
Anas said, Allah be well-pleased with him: The Messenger of Allah said, upon him blessings and peace: “The servant in Paradise shall be married with seventy wives.” Someone said, “Messenger of Allah, can he bear it?” He said: “He will be given strength for a hundred.” From Zayd ibn Arqam, Allah be well-pleased with him, when an incredulous Jew or Christian asked the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace, “Are you claiming that a man will eat and drink in Paradise??” He replied: “Yes, by the One in Whose hand is my soul, and each of them will be given the strength of a hundred men in his eating, drinking, coitus, and pleasure.”
Sifat al-Janna, al-`Uqayli in the Du`afa’, and Musnad of Abu Bakr al-Bazzar
This [Qur'an 78:33] means round breasts. They meant by this that the breasts of these girls will be fully rounded and not sagging, because they will be virgins, equal in age.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Abridged, Volume 10 Surat At-Tagabun to the end of the Qur'an, 333-334

Whats wrong with being disrespectful of such a horrible belief? Seriously, I mean, I know that lots of angry people believe in it, but stand up! Your thinking is correct, and your not a "hater" or any such garbage for saying so.
