Because they've been taught to believe in god, they've been taught that it is good to believe in god, and they are afraid of the alternative. Those are 3 reasons people believe, but there are many. When people talk about God, I think they are talking nonsense.

I can not speak for Koran, Hindu and Buddhist books. But the Bible tells us about the Holy Spirit living in the hearts of believers. They are "born again" when the Holy Spirit moves in. The event is unmistakable, and unshakable.
Dinosaurs have nothing to do with it. There are two very large animals mentioned in the Bible-Behemoth and Leviathan. No one knows what they are, but the are extremely large. The Bible does not mention the kangaroo, seal, polar bear, wombat, shark, opossum, raccoon, and the list goes on and on. Your problem is not the dinosaur, but your hard heart and head.

Better start eating your underpants because dinasaour like creatures are mentioned in the Bible. Or at least a creature with a tail the size of a cedar tree.
Another reason is fulfilled Bible Prophecy that has been fulfilled with 100% accuracy, do a web search on Fulfilled Bible Prophecy and see what you can come up with if you are really interested.

I am not a bible thumper by no means. The only thing that I can say is you are an individual who has his own thoughts, desires, dislikes or whatever but think of it this way, how did you come about from a universe that was mostly hydrogen when formed. There was no life nothing and here you are, aware, thinking, feeling, or whatever. I believe there had to be a hand in creating.

first of all good question, why do i spend time everyday reading the bible and praying to a god, when i could be watching TV or going out to the zoo? or playing the lottery and trying to get rich?.....first of all one day i am going to be dead and the watching TV and the millions of dollars i won at the lottery will be dead to me as well, so in other words i will be naked again just as i was born and have nothing with me on this earth when i am dead. so the thought of becoming just dirt again doesnt put a smile on my face, no offence to you atheist people, but whatever make you happy in life......that is the reason why i have seeked God in my life and spent as much time as possible seeking the true God in my life.

concerning dinosaurs there is mentioned in the bible some large creature such as levanithan and dragons, thats what the bible calls them in the Old testament.

They don't mention every single living creature but they do exist. The Bible says that God created everything - I think that would encompass dinosaurs. As for y do people believe... To think that there is a higher power taking care of us is very comforting. Kind of like when you were a little kid and scraped your knee it was nice to have a grown up around to give you a band-aid. Comforting.

If you will read John 3: 16 of the King James Bible it tells you why we believe I don't know about you but I love Jesus and I love you even though I do not know you and I sure hope you find
Jesus or as you said,GOD as he died for you on the cross for you, me and every other sinner which is everyone. Let me ask you Who can not believe there is not a God? Praying you believe and are his child. Look around you can you not see all the beauty he has made. I believe heaven will be even more beautiful than anything anyone ever dreamed of.

Job 40: 15-17

15 "Look at the behemoth,
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.

16 What strength he has in his loins,
what power in the muscles of his belly!

17 His tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.

18 His bones are tubes of bronze,
his limbs like rods of iron.

What do you think God is talking about here?
A dinosaur.

First let me state that I do believe in God. but I also have debated the whole religion thing alot. I agree that religion was first devised to control the people. but I think people believe in God because to them the idea that life is just life, there is no grand scheme, not great reward, is just a depressing thought. We want more to be out there. We want life to extend past our meager existence on Earth.

I don't have my Bible with me, so I can't tell you the exact chapter and verse about dinosours, but I know it's in Job. But I do know that God has always been around, and people have always believed in him. It's kinda like a legend that people pass down from generation to generation, only this one is true. If you don't believe in God, there's not much that I can tell you. But people believe in God because they need something to hold to, and something to help them believe that someone or something powerful can help them with their problems. Whatever their problems may be.

i was planning to answer honestly until the blaahblaahblaah was added.

ok, so, the Bible is not a history text, its a spirtual guide to a faithful life in Christ. While much is proven to be true (or at least, not proven to be false), the point of the book is not to retell all of history.

i believe in God because I see His work all around me. When I'm in doubt, I rely on faith.
