Unfortunately, no. School teachers get to claim anything they get to buy. Alas, home educators cannot.

Unfortunately, no. Only classroom teachers can deduct their educational supply expenses (and that's limited to $500/year, I think).

Think of it this way - plenty of folks have no kids in the school system, and yet, they still pay property taxes. It's the price we ALL pay for a semi-literate society.

Only if you are part of a Charter school do they allow you to get some kind of deduction in the way of a computer or curriculum. If you are just a private homeschooler then there is nothing you can deduct.

Sadly, no we can't deduct any of the costs. Might be a good community service project to start an online letter writing campiagn about tho!

No, however the state of Virginia is in the process of getting a bill passed that would give home schoolers a tax credit.

No. I researched this same issue last year. Wouldn't hurt to try and find out though, maybe something has changed, but I doubt it.
