I don't know the exact statistical odds, but I'd say the chances for the average person being in a plane crash are EXTREMELY low.

The media focuses on every crash and makes it sound more common than it actually is. Think of how many people in the world took a flight today, or are in the air at this very moment and will reach their destination without any problems whatsoever. With all the navigational equipment, and redundant controls and safety features in cockpits now, I'd say commercial airplanes are very safe. Even engine failure won't bring a commercial jet down, they can still fly with an inoperative engine, and can also glide a short distance. The only real problems come from human error and bad maintenance. And even then, airplane accidents are extremely rare considering how many planes fly every day. You have much better odds of getting into a car crash.

using the technology of today, airplane crashes will be on human error. all planes have guided maps, automated landing sequences, GPS, radars, weather waring devices, and a lot of cool stuff you can have. they have all these because of the requirements given to them by existing government regarding flights of commercial planes. So if youre wondering how much chances would a commercial plane would crash, i would say no chances not unless the pilot, the tower, the company, make errors on their program flight pattern.

im not exactly sure.. but i know it is way more likely for car accidents than plane accidents, hence the anyone who has taken a driving test can drive, and there are not as many airplanes in the sky as cars on the ground.
