A few years back a colleague and I got a call to a strange disturbance at a house. It was in the early hours of the morning.
The report came through over the radio stating that concerned neighbours feared the female occupant of the premises was being attacked.
The house was a terrace in the middle of the row. We went to the address on a blue light, switched off the sirens a few streets away so as not to alert the 'suspect', pulled up at the end of the road and quietly walked to the premises. We stood outside the house (which was in total darkness) trying to hear any suspicious sounds.......
Well I guess you can imagine what was going on........ The noise was unbelievable, screams, groans, moans, slaps....... My partner and I could hardly contain our giggles!
Well what do you do? The call appeared genuine, the noise was outrageous and any person passing the house would have definitely been concerned for the occupant's safety.
We decided discretion was the best tactic. We walked back to the car, turned on the flashing lights and sirens and drove up to the address making as much noise as possible. (Hoping the occupants would hear us, get dressed etc before we knocked!)
We really slammed the doors on getting out of the car, then knocked as loudly on the house door as possible. A few moments later a flustered and sweaty female opened the door and rather sheepishly asked if she could help us......?!
We explained to the woman that concerned neighbours had called police as they feared that she was being attacked in her home. At which she went bright red and assured us that she was perfectly ok.
My colleague then flippantly asked if there was anyone else on the premises and was she sure that they hadn't been assaulted - It's standard practice you understand, to ensure all on premises are safe and well!
He then asked her if she wanted him to check the house to ensure that all the windows had been 'safely' closed.......! Hint-hint-hint........!
We then went to the complainant’s address to reassure the informant that all was ok at the neighbours address…… Obviously they knew what was going on, they I think didn’t know how to bring the ‘subject’ up with the neighbour and had resorted to calling police in order to get a good night’s sleep!
So in answer to your question, yes your neighbours can call the police with the potential of you being arrested for 'breach of the peace' if you refuse to keep it 'down' - Oh the shame of it.....! Yes it is possible to have the council's noise officer called out, and yes finally but not least, your neighbours could keep a record of your ‘noise pollution’ and get the council to slap an ASBO on you!

Yes they can make a complaint - probably to the local council environmental health/noise nuisance team.
There are various ways this might be dealt with and if you don't comply it will all become long winded and you will probably have to go to court eventually.
Just hope that your neighbours are deaf?
BUT, how would you like it if you kept getting disturbed by loud noise from your neighbours. Just try to keep it down and don't get so drunk that you make this much noise. It really is not necessary.

I live in a private property and make noise after a few large ones. My neighbours complained to the council, ?? I'm Private but the council told them to report us to the police. The police will have to witness the noise before they can take any action, Firstly they will give you a verbal warning about the noise, if you carried on all depending th severity of the noise they can actually put an ASBO order against you. Good Luck noisey neighbour

Go for it, but do close the windows and keep the event private. A bang of the window and a Grrr! wouldn't cut anybody's creative lust and will help avoid unwanted interruptions.
Somewhere near my old apartment there is a woman that is extremely vocal about her ecstatic moments (not short either) and there were times that she proved this to the whole neighbourhood several times per day. Nobody could work out which building she lived in out of the three possible apartment blocks! It would have been appreciated if she had kept her windows closed, keeping such an intimate moment, well, intimate, instead of sharing it willy nilly. Very inspiring, but not handy for those without a partner to compete with, or for parents who had to explain the birds and the bees a bit earlier than planned, or lie.

Depends what you mean by getting on a bit.
If they haven't complained and it doesn't happen often then they either dont HEAR you or IGNORE it.
For all you know though it might help BOOST their sex lives!
Your NEVER too OLD!
If it was really a nuisance then Yes they could complain and you would be given a warning to either keep the noise down or restrict it to a reasonable hour! If you then continued and more complaints were made you would be likely to get an ASBO!

That's kinda like saying, if I throw a brick through next doors window from within my own property, am I imune to any action?
It's not what you do in your own house, it's how it effects people close by. I'm not sure if they are still their own court order, or if they have now been lumped in with ASBOs as general, but yes, if the evidence is there, and if you refuse to turn it down, you could expect your day in court.
However, by admitting your concern, I don't see it getting that far, as you don't sound ignorant enough to say "stuff'em"
My question is, how old are you? Because if you have kids at some point in the future, you are going to seriously mentally scar them if you can't find ways of enjoying each other without Tazan calls...

Yes, and If your neighbor calls the police, they will come and tell you to keep the noise down after a certain hour of the night. If you persist in making noise you can be sighted for "Disturbing the Peace"

Sure they can. And if you keep your windows open and your shades up, you might just find yourself on the internet where we ALL can watch you.
BTW you mention your "partner" Are you married? If not, is it LEGAL for an unmarried couple to engage in sex where you live?
You would be surprised what laws are still on the books!!!
I'd keep the noise down and the lights out too if I were you.
