Not your traditional green bean casserole but, it's so good and anyway I get tired of the other recipe.

Green Bean & Wild Mushroom Casserole

3 cup Milk
Bay leaf
4 tbl Unsalted butter
1/4 cup Flour
1/4 tsp Dijon mustard
Freshly grated nutmeg
Salt and pepper
1 cup White cheddar cheese, grated
1 1/2 cup Green beans blanched, in 2" pieces
3 cup Assorted wild mushrooms, sliced (such as portobello, shiitake or cremini)
1/2 cup Freshly grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup Buttered bread crumbs

Make sauce: In a saucepan scald milk and bay leaf. In another saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and cook, whisking constantly, 2 minutes.
Remove bay leaf from milk and slowly pour into butterflour mixture, whisking constantly. Season to taste with mustard, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add cheddar, stirring until melted and smooth.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Fold green beans and mushrooms into sauce, then transfer to a buttered casserole. Sprinkle top with Parmesan and buttered bread crumbs. Bake 50 minutes, or until casserole is bubbly and topping is lightly browned.

I use the same basic concept, but bumpt it up a little bit.

My husband likes the green beans a little crunchy, so I buy fresh grean beans and then blanche them.

On low heat, cook diced onions and bacon cut up into small pieces. I am not looking for crispy bacon, I just like the flavor, so I cook on low heat really slowly until the onions are carmelized.

I dump that on top of the grean beans and add cream of celery. Campbells also has a cream soup with roasted garlic, that works well too.

Mix it all together, put in a casserol dish and cover with the fried onions. Bake @ 350 until warmed through and the fored onions are golden brown.

See? same basic recipe, just tweaked a bit.

This is different...

"Green Beans with Smoked Bacon and Onions" - 8 servings

2 lbs. green beans; trimmed
2 1/4 tsp. salt
4 slices thick-cut smoked bacon; cut into 1"-wide strips
1 medium onion; cut into 1" pieces

1) Blanch beans: Prepare an ice bath. Bring large saucepan of water to a boil. Add the beans and 2 tsp. salt, and cook just until the beans turn bright green-about7 minutes. Drain beans and plunge them into the ice bath until they're cool. Remove beans from the bath, and drain on a towel.
2) Cook the bacon: Add bacon to large skillet over medium-high heat; cook until golden brown and lightly crisp. Drain all but 2 tbsp. of the bacon fat.
3) Finish the beans: Add the blanced beans, onion pieces, and remaining salt; toss to completely coat with the fat. Reduce heat to medium; cook until beans are warmed through and the onions have softened, 4-5 minutes. Serve immediately.
