All right you'll never see or hear an audiophile recommend BOSE
Crap and way too expensive for what you get.
Check this out, a little overboard but correct http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html

Best really depends on your budget.

Best of the best and you'd be spending well over $100,000, you could spend that on speakers alone.

Xenon Audio had some great suggestions for gear.

The site above has a page that list some home theater speaker combos in various price ranges.
Rule of thumb: Spend the same amount on speakers as you do on the receiver (or separates), DVD, CD, and other stuff. Speakers should represent half your audio budget.

Sony is the best for me, but ive noticed that if you're looking for a good price and good quality you can check out gottahavethatnow.com and click questions. Then just email them a request for their best surround sound gear. :)

Pioneer, Harmon/Kardon(they used that for the $150,000 Mercedes S class), Bose(they use that for the Infiniti G35) is good but too expensive and can be small compared to rest (even if it sounds better, the subwoofers might not compare to other brands).

Hi,
I shop a lot and to save time and money I use cheapest prices search engine. Almost every merchant is there and over a million consumer written reviews. You will find many other ways that will help you with questions.
You can shop online or you can go to a merchant and use the toll free phone number if you feel more comfortable shopping like that.
There are merchant reviews, product reviews, compare by brand and a lot more. I hope I helped you and I wish you good luck.
