He'll be 1 and we were thinking about taking him the aquarium....we have lots of animals in our house and he seems very interested in them....do you think he'd enjoy the aquarium or is he too young?

My son is 14 months old and loves places like this. The zoo, the aquarium....these are great places for little ones because they don't require much activity! Amusement parks and such are still too much for this age group, and there isn't a lot they can do when they do attend. However, all an aquarium or zoo requires is for the child to be interested and awake! Remember to take along some extra clothes, plenty of easy to eat snacks (he may not want to stop to eat), and of course the stroller. Your son probably won't be able to walk all the way, if he's even walking yet, so the stroller is a must!

Also, a bit of advice, he may find odd things interesting, let him set his own pace if and when he is walking....Stop and look at the things he seems most interested in and KEEP TALKING!!! Point and name the things you see, get down on his level, identify all the new stuff!! I'm sure he'll have a great time! Good Luck!

The aquarium is a great place for a 1 year old! There are so many colors and things to look at that move around. My baby girl loved watching the fish and being able to see all the different colors. Congrats and happy birthday to your little guy!

The aquarium is a GREAT idea, especially if you keep it low-key and relaxed and let him set the pace. There'll be lots of interesting things for him to look at, and if he's the exploring type, places to wander around.

All too often, people stress out their kids on their birthdays by throwing big parties for them, which they really aren't old enough to deal with. You've come up with a great alternative which will be fun and a little festive, something your little guy will genuinely be able to enjoy.

We don't have an aquarium near us yet (they're building one), but I've taken my son to the zoo/farms for years. He loved seeing the animals even at that age.

Age 1 is much too young.

He will be more interested in the other vistors than in the fish.
