Looking at the weather, it seems it is going to rain every day we are there. Is the weather different around the island of Oahu or should we just accept we will probably won't be seeing the sun. This is our first trip to Hawaii and we were hoping to spend time on the beach

There's a phrase in Hawaii:
"If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes."

Hawaii this time of year is beautiful. Yes, you will get some rains, but you will also see lots of sunshine.

You can go on the cruise from Honolulu - Star of Honolulu and don't bother with the cheaper ones....This goes to Diamond Head and has great views....just carry a clear plastic rain slicker (can get tons of stuff at the ABC stores).

and for information, great tours :

You can put on rain slickers and carry a plastic bag to carry when you remove them, as the rain is called "liquid sunshine" and does not usually last long (much like Florida).

Public buses are everywhere and go to all of the island areas.Public transportantion is available on each island and is clean and easy to use, paid by tourist taxes.
Honolulu, Oahu - has the Waikiki Trolley, and you can get an all day pass very cheaply.

Rental cars are more expensive than taking a limo, and you get stuck in lots of traffic....as the limo drivers have traffic info that you don't have.

I used Hawaii car Service - Kevin-888-926-3444,
www.hallk001@hawaii.rr.com, and ask for Kevin who took us on a tour from the airport....had cold drinks...in the great, SUV when he picked us up at the airport.
Kevin even helped us out by getting us an entertainment book for buy one meal get one 1/2 price, or free, and he dropped it off after we asked ...about good food, at our hotel desk.....
He would offer any tour you would like, but also told us about the public bus and trolley service.
.....Just tell him R from Exton, PA sent you...last trip in August 16, 2005, and he was just marvelous (1-888-926-3444), and he & his family lived there for about 19 years...from the mainland originally.

.10 days is not nearly enough, but I believe it is the most beautiful place in the USA and the world, and I lived in Europe 4years...and traveled to many countries.

You may luck out. On our cruise to Hawaii last December, we were in the Islands for four ports and didn't get any rain at all, even though weather.com said it may on the Big Island. If it does rain, it probably won't last too long and it won't be cold. Bring along an umbrella just in case.

Hawaii is similar to Florida in that the showers end rather quickly. The weather is beautiful this time of year. Have a wonderful time!

Just get a rental car and drive to the other side of the island to the deserted beaches. Stop at an ABC store and get stuff to make a pcinic lunch and enjoy.

I was there in November a few years ago, and in Honolulu you'd get a quick five minute shower, then bright sunshine, this would happen a few times a day.. but you got lots of sun!

Wear sunscreen at all times, even in the car.. trust me =)

If you are going to Oahu, it rains on the north side and mists on the south side in the mornings, every day.
Usually in the evenings it will do the same.
Believe me, it is worth it.
