Seriously, though - what is it we're supposed to be "saved" from?

Well, according to the story, we are all born in sin. This is supposed to mean that we are all rotten little scum when we are born, because Adam ate a piece of fruit that Eve gave him. How this is supposed to have anything to do with me or anyone else I know is never explained.

So, because of Adam taking a bite of this kiwi or something, we are all supposed to be born with a sentence of eternal damnation. Unless we accept Jesus as our saviour. At the same time God is supposed to be loving! This never seems to bother Christians. They never think of the possibility that this neat little trick was invented by the early Christians, in order to get followers to join thier cult.

Does anyone really think that an all-powerful Creator is going to really care what any of us believe, as long as we lead decent lives?

Supposedly, Jesus saves us from sin. Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and God had told them not to. Therefore we're all dirty sinners from birth. This should strike all reasonable people as nonsense. Especially when you consider that most christians don't even believe the story of Adam and Eve should be taken literally. So we need to be saved from metaphorical damnation? I don't get it. Since millions, perhaps even billions, of people believe this tripe we tend to take it in stride. If only a few people believed it we'd laugh. Basically, all religions need to convince you that you are in some way sick or depraved so they can offer you their cure. Religion cuts you so that it can sell you a band-aid.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Jesus took the debt of our sins and died instead of us, this is because he loved us. So, he really does give us eternal life, but if you don't accept his gift, you cannot take it. It's like a 20 dollar bill on the table, "I'll give this to you if you want it, but when the time comes to use it and you don't take it, you will not be able to use it."

If you don't fully understand why this, Jesus, is compationate, let me explain it to you through a story.

There were 2 kids, Bob and Joe, who were the best of friends. One grew up to be a Judge, and one was too poor to afford anything, turning to the answer of being a thief. One day Joe ended up in Bob's courtroom, and Joe was saddened, sending Joe to jail unless the amount of twenty thousand dollars was paid. Crying after the court was ajorned, he quickly signed a check of the twenty thousand dollars in his name, to save his friend.

Jesus was like a best friend to Adam, before Adam and Eve betrayed him, and let sin into the world. The first sin. 2000 years ago, Jesus was filled with sorrow, entered the world as a human, and died for all of us, instead of us, dying for Him; he was the only one with the authority to. Jesus loves us, and he saved us.

John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

He saves us from our sins, the things we do wrong, even the "small" sins like lying and cheating, even the little white lies. If it wern't for him, we wouldn't be able to live forever. Why do we deserve anything from God when we do so many wrong things? The only way we can go to heaven is if we let him save us.

He saved us from the punishment for our sins. That punishment should be eternal damnation apart from God in everlasting torment. That is the true punishment for our sins. Jesus took on the punishment for our sins. He suffered, died, and was placed in a tomb. he rose from the dead and ascended to heaven. He gave us His perfect righteousness since Jesus never sinned. However if you reject Jesus, you are still under God's wrath and face the ultimate punisment for your sins.

Jesus has saved my eternal soul, and given me faith in the goodness and love of the one true God.

We're "saved from" an eternity of being without, and away from, God's love.

Jesus got here to the earth so as that guy might want to be kept from sin by ability of his death on the flow. we are kept. All we ought to do is except Jesus as our savior and follow what the Bible tells us is anticipated persons. extremely easy. and that i do not appreciate you calling my savior "a hardly be termed savior" or my God "a douche bag". improve up.

Our souls are to be saved from the destruction of our own sinful nature according to the Bible so that we may enter heaven and not enter the other place.
