I'm having some pains in my eyes and it's been persisting now for about a week, plus or minus. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the pain at about 4, the highest 6.The pain is off and on at what I guess would be the back of my eye and/or side of my eyes. Anyone know what might be wrong?Again it's not that the pain is overly severe;it's just that it hurts enough and persist enough to bother me and have me worried.I dont feel like I'm going blind or any thnig, I can still see just fine;but sometimes when I move my eye it hurts, and my eyes are a little bit sensitive to light.

Any help or suggestions would be appriciated; Thanks!

Hi,
Don't wait till your eye pain hits 10 out of 10. Go to the Doctor now. Because if something bad is going on, early treatment is always the best thing.

Here is a site for you to have a look at.

As an Opthalmology Assistant I can tell you that there are several things that could be causing your pain.
Sinus infection can cause this as there are sinus passages around your eyes.
Migrain headaches can make the eyes hurt.
In some cases Glaucoma can cause pain and when it is at the point that it is causing pain you could endure unpleasant lasting effects.
Iritis can cause pain in the eyes and though not usually found in both eyes at the same time,it can happen.
You need to see an Opthalmologist as an Opthalmologist can medically and surgically treat eye problems whereas Optometrist are limited in the medicines they can prescribe.
As a general rule,if a person is suffering from a medical condition that affects their eyes insurance will pay.
Until you can get into see an Opthalmologist I would reccommend that you try heat packs to your face and forehead and see if that affords you some relief along with some tylenol or ibuprofen.
Even if this does not help,it won't hurt but might possibly help you until you get in for your appointment.

I would rest your eyes - stop looking at the computer screen! This can dry your eyes out due to reduced blinking, maybe causing some scratches on the cornea surface. It can also cause eye strain which may affect the back of the eyes (the muscles).

Eat lots of carrots, beetroots and other fruit and veg, drink lots of water and sleep well - and GO TO THE DOCTOR just to be on the safe side.

Yeah that's definitely one where you need to go see an eye doctor. Some places will do an eye exam for a little bit of money even if you don't have insurance.

I highly recommend going to one.
