This 6 year old is trying to win the dominant spot in your household. Even fixed cats are territorial. If he is seriously injuring the others, he may have to go. Spats and hiss fights are normal when you have several cats in the same house, but I wouldn't let him hurt the others seriously. I have 4 and every day somebody hisses at somebody about something but they have never hurt each other.

You should be asking a veterinarian. People on yahoo are all just a bunch of amateurs. But one guess I have is that maybe they detect a smell they don't like. One cat has a smell that drives the other one crazy. Trying washing the cats. Also, try burning a candle to change the scent of the room. See if they still fight. Are there any other scents in the house like cigarette smoke or scents from a trash can? Maybe this is setting them off.

It sounds like you may have two Alpha Male katz. If everyone is getting along but the 6 year old, he may be happier in a one kitty household. If this has been going on for longer than a few months, it sounds like it's not just a "pecking order" problem. At one time, we had 8 katz, and had a similar problem. The one who didn't get along with anyone went to live with my Mom, and he is just pleased as punch to be "master of his domain." My remaining seven all get along, and are much happier without the brute around...

If you have a cat carried I'd suggest punishing the instigator in the fights by placing them in the carrier for a while. Eventually he will get the hint that fighting = isolation. Babies learn much the same way.

Get a spray bottle with a stream setting and put water into it. Whenever they start to fight squirt them with the water bottle, cats hate that........pretty soon they will make the connection and stop fighting.

Sounds to me like they just don't like each other. You can wait for them to get used to each other or find one of the males another home.
