Puppy's are like that they never stop eating.
It's because they run about so much and allways up too mischief that they burn so much energy up and need feeding so much.
Don't worry about him getting tubby though all puppy's are tubby and when he get's older he'll loose his puppy fat and tone up nicely
They like baby's they need feeding every few hour's so give him a small meal every say 3-4 hour's then as he get's older make the gaps longer till it's down 2 just 2-3 times a day.
Have fun with your puppy enjoy every moment of it this is the bonding time and they grow up so quickly and then your have a loyal, faithfull, loving best friend that will allway's love you and will never judge you and no matter what you do will allway's be on your side.
Good luck with your new found four legged friend :o)

Just being a puppy. Every type of dog I've ever had ate like that when they were puppies (with the exception of the puppy I have now.....I just got a chihuahua and I have to make her eat, I think she gets so caught up in playing that she forgets to eat....but even she will power through a whole bowl of food in 15 seconds and look to me for seconds). If you're that worried about it take the dog to the vet, I guess it's possible that it had worms or something.

I was feeding my puppy IAMS, and my vet and trainer said that it is full of fillers. Look at NaturalLife at Petco. When your looking at dog food, look at the ingredients and see what they are. If any of the first 5 ingredients are fillers, pass. You are basically paying for cornmeal when you get food like that. When feeding a young puppy (I got mine at 5 weeks) put some warm water in there food. Not enough to completely soak the food, but just enough to make it moist. Feed 3 meals a day, just like babies they need to eat more often.

My 7 year old Lab eats like this at every meal! You would think that she's just starved to death! Just be careful so that he can't get to the bag! It is possible for a dog to eat so much that it kills them.

Most puppies do this, they would eat the entire bag if you let them.
If you are concerned, tell your vet (You should be heading in soon for shots anyway, ask then) unless the dog is taking in alot of water as well, or vomiting or has diarrhea, I wouldn't be concerned.

he is probably just very food motivated. if you are seriously worried then i would talk to a vet when you go in for your shots. have the vet weigh him and ask what to feed the puppy so he doesn't get overweight good luck and congratulations on the new puppy!

My baby does that too. I'm worried about her not chewing the food, so sometimes I'll take the food away from her and then give her piece by piece to slow her down.

They do this because when he was with his brothers and sisters, if he didn't eat fast, he wasn't going to get any.
This, however, is not good for a pup to eat fast. If he doesn't slow down soon, put a rock in his food bowl. He will have to work around the rock to get at his food and this will slow him down.
