Yes. This is the ideal way to feed a dog. They suck in less air when eating because their necks are straight rather than bending down.

It has been said that sucking in a lot of air while eating or drinking can cause Bloat. A many times fatal occurance where the dogs stomach twists. This is why you should never feed your dog before or especially after you exercize it.

They sell products that lift the dog bowls up so you dont have to use a box. But, if its the right height, a box works just as well! :)

Yes, I have a shepherd mix who is nearly 10 and can't reach down like she used to, so we have her food bowl up on a carpet covered box, so it is easier for her to reach.

No but I have heard and seen them for large breed dogs. Pet stores like PETCO even sale food bowl holders on elevated legs for great danes. I was pricing one for my neighbor recently who just got a 4 month old dane puppy.

I have a rug under them, this helps when they are messy.
All I have to do is put the throw rug in the washer when
it gets dirty.
