Well, just today I received an e-mail from 'e-bay' that said my account had been temporarily suspended due to a security compromise and my password may have been stolen. It said I should change my password for e-bay, as well as for my e-mail account. It looked real (logo, fine print, etc.). I went to e-bay and my account was fine, so I sent a copy of the e-mail to e-bay security and they e-mailed me back saying it was fake and someone was just trying to get my personal info. If I wasn't so paranoid and untrusting, I would have clicked on the link in the e-mail and who knows what they would have gotten!!

Another is the 'get paid to take surveys' gimmick. I finally, just for fun, signed up with a few of these (with an e-mail account separate from the one I really use). They give you survey options to get $$ but you have to complete the offer to get the $$ credited to your account. They only pay after you accumulate enough $$ (in this case $100). Well, to complete the surveys/offers and get the $$ credited you have to either buy something or sign up for some 'free' trial or sample...BUT for the 'free' stuff you have to pay shipping/handling. So what it comes down to is you have to spend money just to accumulate 'money' in the hopes that you can get enough to actually get paid!! I completed a few of the surveys/offers that really were free and the 'money' for some of them still hasn't been credited to my account.

One of the lesser known scams is the ANGOLA scam. It has nothing to do with the country ANGOLA and did not originate on the internet, but the internet provides NEW opportunities. (It is said to have originated in the ANGOLA prison in Louisianna)

A profile for a cute, young bi guy would be created. The scammers would target rich men, who are either married or still in the closet. They will feed this person with pics and love letters. As soon as they have enough incriminating evidence against the older ricj lover, they will start scamming hime for money. Initially it would be for 'living costs' for the yng guy, and eventually openly PROTECTION MONEY for not exposing the benefactor.

Yes, but also, some scams are called 'Nigerian Scams' because they are identical to the first real scam from Nigeria. But, most emails with promises you get from African countries are suspect these days.

Look all over this site! There's an idiot or 2 that keeps posting something like 'finally a website that pays you...blah blah blah'

It's in nearly every section, I'm sure Y/A is trying to keep up with it, but they are only so many people, and whoever this is is fast and a real jerk.
