When I try to remove it I get "fatal error" in a pop-up box! I have tried from Control Panel and from the QuickTimeInstaller exe neither option works.

reinstall it and then uninstall. Sounds like you may have some files missing that are required to remove it. Then delete the registry keys and the program folders.

go to control panel and selct remove programs when you see it click on it and it will ask if you want to uninstall

delete the folder its in and make sure its not running on your computer when you do it.
