It really depends on the cd player. you need to check the radio whether it can accept steering wheel remotes first. There are many different types such as a 3.5mm jack for most manufacturer (i.e Pioneer, Alpine and JVC) although Kenwood use the blue remote wire off the ISO harness. These are usually reserved for units over £150. (ball park figure)
Next you need to find the adaptor plug which suits the car and the cd player (check your local halfords or other car audio retailer). This will allow your unit to communicate with the vehicles original equipment. Installing it into your car is just connecting some connectors together. However, be warned though that you will end up with a whole lot of wire behind the dash and you may also need other adaptors as well (such as a aerial adaptor),
I hope this helps if in doubt speak to a specialist!

I've just been through a similar situation with a my car. If you just fit the new cd player using a standard wiring harness adaptor then the answer is no.
In order for it to work you need to get a cd player that is capable of operating from the steering wheel controls. Then you need to get the appropriate wiring harness adaptor that includes the steering control remote sensor. I paid £60 for the one for my car.
This will add quite a bit of extra wiring behind your dash and it can be quite a squeeze getting it all in.
If you are in any doubt speek to a car audio speciallist or alternatively the maker of the Cd player will have a technical helpline. They will talk you through exactly what you need to do. I contacted Alpine and they were very helpful.

Oh and as has already been pointed out, you may well require an ariel adaptor as well.

Good luck.
