I just got a foot tattoo on Saturday. I have other tattoos, so I know it will be swollen and need time to heal..
But does anyone have a foot tattoo? How long did it take to heal? How long was the swelling there? Anything you did to help keep the swelling down?

Thanks guys!

Ive been wearing flip flops since I got it, and been going barefoot at work to let the air get to it (thank god i have an awesome boss!)
ive just been washing it like crazy with warm water and soap and putting the bacitracin on it.. but its still very swollen and hard to walk on..

i used to wash mine in warm water with a lil salt yes it hurt a lil bit but it helped with healing. then i applied the lotion. dont wash the foot to often like in the morning and then before bed is good if u wash to often ur keeping it to moist. dont wear socks or shoes. and for the swelling u cold u an ice press but make sure u put a towel & plastic wrap(so fluff from toweldoesnt stick to tat) over the tattoo or cover the tattoo its self and use a thing called cold spray it works really well just spray around the tattoo and it does all the work. but swelling usually last a week. mine took approx 2 1/2 weeks to heal.

I let my foot breath as often as I could after I got the tattoo. Wash with mild soap and water then pat dry, and I used a cool wash rag with the initial swelling. The next day I started applying a very mild lotion, non scented about 6 times a day. It seemed to heal more quickly than my other tattoos that I have using this method.

No foot tat's here but you need to be careful of the shoes you wear! Flip-flops are best unless they irritate the tat! High heels and boots are out for the next month or so (I'm giving it plenty of time to heal) A new tattoo should be washed at least 1ce a day and then have Tattoo Goo or Vaseline rubbed into it! But rub lightly to prevent swelling! Good luck Sweety!

My sister has a heart tattoo on the top of her left foot. Looks sooo cute! I want one too, but I'm afraid of the pain. I think it took a couple of weeks for hers to heal. Definetly stay barefoot as much as you can and flip flops only when absolutely necessary. Even afterwards stay away from socks and shoes cause they make the tattoo fade, that's what the girl who did my sister's tattoo said. Maybe you're washing it too much with soap. Have fun with your foot tattoo!

Go with along the top. Foot tattoos are hard enough to heal, and the sides usually fade and need to be touched up quite a bit from rubbing on your shoe. The top will be the same, but it's easier to find shoes that have no tops for healing times.

Mine took like 3 and a half weeks to heal but the swelling went down after a week or so...put a cold pack on it but make sure you cover it with a towel. Good Luck! Oh and take 1 asprian

You can try taking some advil for the pain and swelling. Try not to wash it more than twice a day. You can also try bactine spray to help with the pain.

i used ice to calm it down! Never place the ice directly on the tattoo just around it! and no shoes or socks! that will just rub and make it really irritated! Good luck with that!
