I have a lot of problems running outside in the cold, I have trouble breathing, my nose starts running, and my ears hurt. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help me out? Will these problems go away if I consistently run in the cold?

There is little blood on ones outer ear, so it gets cold fast. The inner ear is getting cold blown into it so plug it with cotton if you don't have muffs. I don't know what to do about the nose running, it is the bodies way of keeping warm fluid in your nose to keep it from getting frostbite. I always just wiped on my sleeve. Have you ever had asthma? Cold weather and exercise tend to make asthma worse. Some people don't even have symptoms unless they are in cold damp places exercising. Go to your doctor, he can tell you if he suspects asthma by your symptoms and give you an inhaler to use before running, running in the cold is the only time I ever had an asthma attack, and the inhaler made all of the difference in the world.

i run in the cold too, and reason why your breathing hurts is because the cold air going into your lungs. your nose starts running because your body is becoming warmed up and is "sweating" through your nose and/or if you havnt been use to the cold yet, it will do that. Same goes fo ryour ears. when ur body is warmed up, you feel a spiky type feeling. it's just ur body warming up. coldvshot/warm. best way is just run in sweats and your body will eventually get use to it, but will not stop from doin what its doing!

Exercise and cold induced reactive airway disease is what it could be. Not a very big deal as it sounds, easy way to prevent is to not do both at the same time. But mention it to your doctor on your next visit.

Put a scarf over your face and wear a light weight stocking cap and see if that helps.
