Smoking keeps you thin by subpressing your hunger; quitting not only releases that hunger, but adds a new unsatisfied craving.

One do not get fat smoking cigarettes but will stay around the same weight. Now when one stops smoking they have a tenacy to gain some weight and lots of it too. What you heard was a traditional lie.

Alot of people say that they smoke to keep their weight down. Dr. phil had a show about and the people said that they don't want to quite smoking because they will gain weight or they have tried to stop smoking but gain weight and then started back smoking so they can lose weight again. So smoking cigarettes keeps you trim. Your friend was probably confusing it with weed which makes you want to eat food but don't necessarily makes you gain weight it just give you the munches : )

Nope, just the opposite. Smoking makes you unnaturally thin, and they say that quitting, especially for women, often causes a sudden increase in weight.
