what an excellent question. the only way that i'd know how to answer that (without getting too scientific- not that I could anyway : /) is that our bodies need to be the signalling device for us to recognize what's going on. if we eat bad food, our bodies tell us. if we believe a thought that causes anguish, our bodies tell us. i guess from there we're suppose to just know what to do. just like the belly barfs to cause relief, our eyes cry and our chest feels heavy. i think it's a release. best question i've come across in here- thanks

actualy they did a study and the the emotional pain you feel is also associated with the part of your brain that handles physical pain

because no matter what, hurt is hurt and theres no denying it. for a brief period of time, u feel slightly depressed and that shows.
