Rats have been known to carry some of mans deadliest diseases. The Black Plague was caused by the FLEAS that were on the rats. But rats are known to carry Rabies and that is transmitted by bites. I would go to the Emergency Room as soon as possible. You will have to get a Rabies shot and treat the wound for possible infection.

Well, if you got bit by a rat on the street then it is possible to get rabies. Plus there are all sorts of diseases you can pick up from a rodent's bite (or any wild animal for that matter). If it was a pet, it is still possible to get these but you are better off because you can take the animal in to be tested. Mind you, the rat will have to die for a rabies test. I would consult your local doctor if I were you.

you should be more worried about the drugs you were smoking in the alley that allowed you to be bitten twice by a rat.
