Every time there is some statistic about how Christians have the highest teenage pregnancies, divorce rates, jail terms, abortions, std's, shorter life expectancy, unhealthier countries, etc. this turns into "well, they are not real Christians." Or is it that once you made a mistake you automatically stop being a Christian? I don't get it. Do Christians ever make mistakes at all? Look honestly into your family or church people, is there not one --true-- Christian that maybe had a teenage pregnancy, was in jail, or maybe even had a divorce? This doesn't make sense. I have an Aunt who is Christian that has had a divorce. I have an Uncle that's a catholic who had a DUI. And if you met them, there is no way you could even begin to try to justify saying they are "not real Christian;" they make mistakes like you and me. You're supposed to be "sinners," so why are you in such hypocritical denial?

It's just a way for them to say that their religion is right and better than anyone Else's religion. It very convenient don't you think? Knights of the crusades, not true Christians, but had it not been for the Knights of the crusades then Christianity would not have spread all over the Earth as it did. So if you think about it, most people today that are Christian, came to be Christian under evil means. Most all of Europe was converted to Christianity through force, the trend started with Constantine. Roman soldiers of this time were force to become Christian, even forcing them to put Christian symbols on their armor and Shields. So if your ancestors were forced into being a Christian does that make them a true Christian, dose that make their decedents true Christians?

Agreed. Look, it's obvious that reverse psychology needs to be implemented. If you tell people they are free to do things like have sex before marriage, drink, smoke, use drugs, etc, they're less likely to actually do it. China is a perfect example - low alcoholism rate. Why? Because it's not viewed as a sin. It's more of a societal thing, where extreme drunkenness is subject to ridicule. When you tell people what they CAN'T do, they're going to want to do it to see what all the fuss is about. That's what leads to problems. I don't see how anyone can say that anyone else is a real christian or not. How could you possibly know? You don't know the person - you're judging the act. Doesn't your bible say judge not?
Good question!

I am a Christian but I have made so many mistakes in my life. If you make a mistake and are truely sorry then God will forgive you, you won't stop being a Christian, if you did then nobody would go to heaven because EVERYONE is a sinner. Being a Christian just means that you have accepted that you sin and you want to live more like God wants you to it doesn't mean that you are immune to sinning and are suddenly transformed into this perfect person.

Christians are human. Humans make mistakes. Christians make mistakes, just like all the other humans.
On the other hand If a man claims to be a plastic surgeon but all his patients end up being deformed or dead, even though he has his credentials would you want him as your surgeon? What I mean is not all that is done in the name of Christianity is Christianity. Even Jesus the founder of Christianity said that was the case. Please see Matthew 7. 21-24

As a Christian I make "mistakes" every day and am willing to admit them. Just because I am saved doesn't mean that I'm not a sinner anymore. The only difference between me and a non-Christian is that I have accepted Jesus as my payment for my sin. Doesn't mean that my sin nature goes away.
Also, I have to say that the term Christian is used really loosely these days. That's why I always say some people are "so called Christians." Just because you believe in Jesus doesn't mean your a Christian. There's a difference between just believing in Him and calling upon Him to forgive you of your sins and accepting Him as your personal savior!

The enemy deceived people in to thinking that all they have to do is be a pew warmer, put on the happy christian face, and just accept jesus as their savior.
Christians are not perfect people. Christians dont even teach other christians the truth. People have a tendecy of believing what they want to instead of believing in the words of Jesus.
Just because we dont like it, doesnt mean we dont have to abide by it. This is also satans deception ways. We just need to pray that God will continually improve us to be more christ like, and to remove our fleshy ways, and grace us with the holy spirit.

All the time. I am a Christian and I fail daily in my walk with Christ. I'm not perfect - by a long shot. Just forgiven. But, hopefully, I will learn from my mistakes and become more and more Christlike as my walk continues.

Having faith in the one true God and His Son, Jesus, does NOT mean that you will not make mistakes and commit sin.
Having faith in God means that you are a spiritual child who is growing up and learning. And much learning is done by trial and error and forgiveness. There's also learning by the good example of one Christian to another.

I am not in denial. I struggle with temptations every day. Sometimes I slip... most of the time through the grace of God I manage to stay clear of things that I know are wrong or bad for me. It is a steady uphill climb for me two steps up and one back, but progress can and does get made... even in the lowliest of us... me.
