Galileo was under house arrest during the last years of his life for his theories about the planets and our place in the cosmos. He was eventually proven correct.
Many religious groups because of his theories and views on religion censored Einstein.
The point is that throughout history scientist and their theories have been censored by religious groups, and time and again science have prevailed. How is the current debate about evolution any different?

The shoes are on the other foot. People who believe in a Creator are discriminated against in science.

People who believe in a Creator are finding that science is an ally in the pursuit of truth, and that is where all the ruckas comes from. They are asking the right questions, and finding a wealth of holes in the theory and logic of:

The origin of the universe, it began, but was it uncaused, for this makes no sense? The theories here are like science fiction.

The origins of life, it takes a lot of biology to be in place to start a process of natural selection, for one must start with something to select. There are no credible theories, not even science fiction.

What property of matter causes consciousness, and why should it. If the universe is materialistic, then consciousness makes no sense.

By the way, how did the brain get programmed for eyesight. To accept 2 images, combine them, to provide near instant assessment and response, millions of lines of unbelievably brilliant genetic code, how did that happen. We could put 1000’s of genius's to work on this today for 10 years, and they would not be able to figure out how to do that today. Not only is there no randomness, there is unimaginably brilliant creation involved.

Again, the tables are turned and good questions are being asked.

The big diff is that no one is threatened with house arrest or being burned at the stake for having an opinion that differs from the religious crowd.

But you're right about these creationist types trying to use their religious beliefs to answer questions that are best answered by scientific inquiry. And you're right that they have tried throughout the ages to undermine scientific inquiry because it calls into question the accuracy and rationality of their religious beliefs and undermines the authority of religious leaders. That's what happens when people base their values on a belief in magic.

No it quite is quite persecution by prepared faith . in case you throw out the non secular objections to gay marriage then there is quite no sturdy clarification for the State to no longer subject a gay couple a marriage license the reality of the project is that with very few exceptions the State acts by way of fact the final romantic naive teenage lady while it consists of the issuance of marriage licenses For the State to apply the possession of two comparable genitals by way of fact the inspiration for denying a marriage license to an otherwise qualified gay couple is a civil rights violation by the State that should not be tolerated by each and anyone that cares with reference to the yankee way of existence

The current backlash against evolution is merely risible, but Galileo was in danger of losing his life back then... and he was on his own.

Yes. Galileo was a believer in God and actually had observable evidence of what he taught. Whereas Evolutionists admit that there is no observable proof of one species changing to another in our time. They try to deal with this by amended theories such punctuated equilibrium.

It's not. Just depressing to think it's going to be another few hundred years before everyone gets it, and Darwin takes his place amongst the vindicated scientists.

i think so. people prefer to beleive a magical man in the sky created it all rather than natural occurences. why? because the magical many answrer gives you instant happines.. the other brings more questions.

people, especially religious ones, prefer not to think, so if they can get an answer that makes them feel somehow special and strokes their ego at the same time....theyll spring for that one.
