What is the best way to help a parent with a severe alcohol addiction? This person is even suicidal with 2 recent hospital admissions - however the hospital care is only concerned with his physical health - not his mental health or his addiction. The GP (regular doctor) seems not to be concerned either. What are the best resources I can get in touch with?

People with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental health issues appear to have the highest success rate using an ACT program (Assertive Community Treatment):

(In some places it is refered to as PACT.)

ACT programs are available throughout the US, Canada, Great Britain and other countries.

The links I have all deal with the US, I guess your best bet would be to contact your local mental health clinic.
