God is not everybody's persnal protector. He made us in His image and wants to be proud of us. If you want you child to be safe, do you wrap him or her in bubble wrap before letting them outside? I hope not. God lets bad things happen to people so they can face it, beat it, and move on, ready to handle the next situation stronger than before. Because of this, we gain experience in the world, learn to appriciate its beauty (after all, how can there be beauty when there is no ugliness?), and learn to trust in God.

God doesn't require us to make animal sacrifices anymore-Jesus paid for our sins! He does, though, want us to be living sacrifices (Romans 12:8). This means that we put God first and follow his commands, always love him, and are willing to serve and obey him always. God doesn't put us in pain and test us, he lets us be tested. There's a huge difference. As for the people who are humble but still miserable, perhaps they are being tested to learn something. That happened to one of the members of my church when we were backpacking once.

We live in a sinful world and everyone suffers because of it. Life happens to all of us. We choose how we will respond to life as it comes. Those who are faithful and obedient are not promised an easy life, yet God holds us through difficult times and provides comfort and peace that others can't begin to imagine.
The Bible teaches that some troubles come because we live in a sinful world, some come as natural consequences of sinful choices, some come as discipline for our lack of obedience, some come as tests to build and strengthen character. All of these will pass away when we spend eternity with God.

I do believe that God tests us at times for example Job. But about people going through misery... a lot of that is just because of our sin nature.

The humorous element is the human beings who say they'll do something for god refuse. isn't the penalty of refusing gods orders the sentence of eternity of hell? EDIT GoldenGael: Then it does no longer be too demanding to trick you into murdering someone. heavily what in case you had a bout of schizophrenia? might want to you do as you're informed or imagine about it and get psychological concepts?

Gods promise is not that hes going to snap his fingers and make you healthy and wealthy if youre a Christian. God promises that you shall have eternal reward for believing and following Jesus. If a believer seems down they need encouragment and love like we are called to do in the NT. Many of them isolate themselves from other believers and avoid church making their relationship with God strained and fruitless.

God DOES expect humility. He wants us to put his will ahead of our own. But he doesn't put us through pain to get it.
As a Christian, I consider myself to be a friend of God. And a true friend sticks with you, even in the bad times. What God wants is true friendship and trust.

the Lord states in the Bible that it is better to obey than to sacrifice...
These things happen to mold ones character and faith in God that He is capable of bringing you through anything you can think of...He may not take you out of the situation but through Christ you can accomplish anything.
