am sorry shes 4 years old but to me she's still my baby even though I have 2 other at home that are younger. To me they are all still babies. Its just that my wifes parents help us alot whenever we need it and they really want to take her to visit her family in Mexico.

Why would you let them take your child out of the country? If you can not go then niether should your baby. It can get real complicated, maybe needs birth certificate, passport. But I still wouldn't allow my kid out of the country.

Get your daughter a passport... Make sure to give your in laws medical treatment release papers.. A hand written note stating they can have your child treated for any medical or dental problem that might occur while she is in thier care is sufficient... Make sure to write all appropriate insurance information on the note...

Write a seperate note stating the grandparents have your premission to take your daughter for the visit to to Mexico...

Be sure to clearly write all contact information on both notes your home address work and home phones cell phone etc.

In all likelihood they will not need the medical treatment release but with the passport and note giving your permission to travel out of country with her they should have no problem crossing the border either direction...

Make sure to call the state department in regards to the area they will be traveling in to make sure if your child needs any special immunications before she should travel there... Also make sure they take along water and food from here as the health codes in regards to certain foods are different here than in mexico and foods there have the potential of making your daughter sick...

Unless you are going to accompany the child, DO NOT let her leave the country. If you're still calling her a "baby" it sounds like she still is young enough to need to constant care of her mother.

If your husband will be there, it is a slightly different story, but do not just let family run off with your infant. It opens up a whole lot of unsavory possibilities.

Which country. Before 9-11 to take a small child into Canada from the U.S. all I needed was a birth certificate.

Get a passport for your child and write a letter of permission (your passport office can explain it to you) signed by yourself and your spouse.
