Thanks to a few cake classes I have the frosting recipes like you would find in a bakery. The first one is the stiffer frosting that is usually the kind that is tinted for decorating use. It is nice and white though without food coloring. Very sweet!
INGREDIENTS
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 tablespoons milk

DIRECTIONS
Cream sugar, butter and vanilla. Add a small amount of milk (1 to 2 tablespoons). Add cocoa if desired and beat until fluffy. If frosting is too sweet add a little more milk.

The second one is the fluffy kind that has to be refrigerated. I personally like the fluffy one better but the decorator/powdered sugar one keeps the best.
INGREDIENTS
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, combine pudding mix with milk and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Gently fold in whipped topping until no streaks remain. Spread evenly over cake.

Send me a piece of cake when you are done!

3 Tablespoons butter
3 cups icing sugar
Beat these together in a medium sized bowl. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Gradually add 1/4 cup milk. When it's at the consistency you like, you're done!
