I have a banquet where the dress is formal or semi-formal. I know formal means I would have to wear a tux, but what is semi-formal?

A nice suit and tie with dress shoes should do just fine. Or a sport coat will work as well.

semi formal means that you can just wear a nice suit doesn't need to be a tux.

For a man, it means a nice dark business suit, a white shirt and a conservative tie. Polish your shoes, too.

probably not as fancy but still very nice looking you dont have be way over the top just dress nice !!
