Because I feed my dog Eukanuba small breed puppy food and he likes it but they also make the canned puppy food to. I just want some opinions. Should I do both or stay with one

Stay with the one type. It is hard on your puppy's stomach to switch foods. This site has a lot of info for new puppy owners. It's free and there are video's for training and feeding issues.

Feed them about four times a day - you'll soon figure out how much they can actually eat (they have no self control when they're little, and they'll look as if they are about to explode!). In between times, make sure they are nursing from their mom still. My puppies actually still had at least one drink from her the day they left for their new homes - and they were much better grounded. Your puppies should only get a good brand of puppy kibble, floating in some formula. When they have their teeth, they should be able to crunch some of the hard kibble - but at first, let it soak so it's mushy and feed them in a "flying saucer" dish so they don't just walk around in it. Most canned food contains a lot of fat and gummy stuff that will give dogs and puppies diarrhea. It's junk, and they don't need it. Nutro Natural Choice lamb and rice is a decent enough brand, and very mild - or Eukanuba, Innova, Purina Pro-Plan, or Science Diet. Don't buy any of it at a supermarket, Walmart or Costco - it's not the same... And Nutro Natural Choice ONLY - never Max, which was sold off a few years back- it's junk.

I have a 6 month old rat terrier/fox terrier mix and she eats dry then once a week she get one can of wet. Eukanuba is not a good dog food. You need to switch it to a premium food. I feed mine Eagle Pack hollistic which is all natural ingredients. Eagle Pack is expensive, but it helps their coat and keeps them healthy. My husband works for a pet product distributor, so thats how I know. Feeding one can of wet a week does not hurt them or mak=ke them sick. Good luck

It's better for all dogs to eat dry food regardless of age. Dry food is better than wet for their teeth and gums and will avoid problems as they get older. Most trainers and experts will tell you this. You can supplement their diet from time to time with other types of foods that will add variety and texture such as cottage cheese or eggs which are good sources of calcium but stick with dry as the main source.

I like to give my animals wet food in the morning and dry in the evening. The problem with wet food is it doesn't scrape the gunk off their teeth like dry does. They can get bad teeth problems unless you give them something to scrape the gunk off, and the dentabone treats don't always do as good of a job as they should. But, remember, puppy's tummies can get upset if you switch too much. Get into a regular feeding cycle and stick with it to keep his tummy from getting upset.

I'm not an expert but i think dry food so their teeth can get strong when my dog was a puppy she couldn't eat wet food because it would get stuck in her gums

I think the dry food helps to keep their teeth cleaner. Canned food tends to give them bad breath! You can mix them once in awhile. But, if you start using the canned, the puppy might not want to go back to the dry.

if you're feeding dry, stay with the dry. changing can bring on diarrhea. also, keeping the puppy on dry, it'll help remove tartar from the teeth. it might be good to get some dog chews for him.

It depends on what the dog likes. You might want to start with canned, so you don't have to worry about them choking. Then if you want, let them try some dry food. It also depends on what you can afford. If your dog likes it, stick with it!

I have been told by a vet that feeding only canned food can rot their teeth. Also it is not that good for their digestive tract. Hard food cleans their teeth & won't give them diarhia like canned food can.
