Yeah, well there's the small detail that a lot of the 'historians' want to omit...the US/Mexico war, which lasted from 1846-48, and ended with the signing of the Treaty Of Guadalupe-Hidalgo.
OH, and let's remember to mention the Gadsden Purchase also,
wouldn't want to forget THAT...Mexico lost the war, and then agreed to sell the rest for 15 million bucks...which WAS a lot of money, in those times.

What Mexico's trying to do NOW is argue its' way into our border...further, SPAIN is the country that established all the missions etc., not Mexico...it's been all downhill since Spain left, hell, FRANCE occupied Mexico City.

I think we should hold firm on the border issue, and offer to buy 2,000 square miles MORE of their territory...that land immediately adjacent to the US/Mexico border. They need the money, we need a real border...

300 - 400 years ago - read your history lessons - California was a Spanish colony long before the Americans took it. Ever wonder why every major city and town has a Spanish name? Spanish is the unofficial / official second language of the entire US. Have you been living in a cave?

Leaving it as a simple Mexico was the original land owner is lame. You have to go by what runs society. This is the main reason I left Cali. Too many liberals giving and not getting anything in return. You all want to say without Mexicans our economy would die. They are filling just as many every day jobs as they are jobs you say legal citizens don't want to do. Just look in the kitchen of any restaurant!!! They are getting at least $10 an hour!!!

So what? When a more powerful people overtake a country/land, we get to make the rules! And weren't there Native Americans here long before that?? What's you f*ckin point? Everything in CA is already printed in 20 goddamn languages anyway- what more do you want??

So by your estimation Spanish should be the state language. Don't think so

The Spanish originally occupied the territory - and it is now a bi-lingual state. (Note that the US has no official language).
