Try to take the question out of the norm...does the school code of conduct force responsibility by simple making boiler-plate rules that everyone has to follow, regardless of situation? The real world does not force responsibility, there are simply consequences. Why are there dress codes in school-and how does a forced dress code increase a student's level of responsibility? Are there rules on make-up? Jewelry? How does censorship of an how an individual dresses promote responsibility and education?

Try not to look at the simple advantages and disadvantages--look up alternative or private schools, and compare their code of conduct with your own school's. The basic effect of any student code of conduct is control--so that the teachers, coaches, and administrators can have something to fall back on to exercise control with a number of people that outnumber them, and usually have neither the education or judgment to avoid putting themselves in dangerous situations. But take a look at your individual school. Are there (or have there ever been) reasons for the code of conduct? Was there a gang problem (fighting, weapons guidelines)? Is your school a top-ranked school that has no need for a good number of rules that apply to middle of the road schools, because the students have already shown a marked level of responsibility?

Look at this out of the box; examine the reasons why, and explain why they do or do not apply to your school.

I feel that is an easy question to answer. Think about it, if there is no code of conduct then how can one know what to do and what not to do. You can say well that person should know not to punch little billy, but if he/she grew up in a home with a lot of fighting or no supervision then he/she probably did not know it was wrong. If there were no rules then there would be no repercussions for wrong doings. Imagine a world wth no laws!

School codes of conduct have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Your asking this question is an irony of Shakespearian proportion.
