Don't you remember the Yellow Pages adverts from the Eighties? Ring a French Polisher!

Try mayonnaise; it worked on my dining table when my husband and his mate spilt brandy all over it and then left it for me to discover!!! Now THAT was an horrendous stain but mayo restored the finish to perfection.

May not work on a cup burn, but worth a try don't ya think? Oh, it does need to be mayonnaise and not salad cream.

Other than that you may need to replace the veneer, not a hugely expensive or difficult task.

Good luck.

Heat will remove it. Either by generating heat by rubbing hard with 'Dura Glit' metal polish. Or by placing a layer of 'Methylated Spirits' on the mark with a small piece of rag, then set fire to the meths (quickly, before it evaporates) Maybe get someone to help you, ie; you apply the meths and stand back while they put a match to it.

Normally, when burns occur to formica or veneer finishes, they cannot be removed.

The only way to get rid of them is to replace the section or piece that has been burned.

Sorry, but I don't think you can. I think the best you can do is try and cover it up. Good luck.
